The Felix Figura Gallery is situated in an old apartment house at Mala Strana near Kampa, no. 19 Vsehrdova street, opposite the back entrance into Kampa across the Michnuv Palac court. The gallery is in an elevated ground floor, enter via the house.
Spaces of The Felix Figura Gallery evokes the atmosphere of forgotten burgher interiors. Purposeful use of irregular spaces in the gallery, as laid down by the original medieval ground plan, reflects the need for today’s art to hold out in such environment, which both contrasts it and augments its perception. The Felix Figura Gallery derives its name from the writer Anna Lauermannova Mikschova, also known as Felix Téver, who for many years in the first half of 20th century held a renowned literary and artistic club, frequented by elite of Czech society.
The Felix Figura Gallery holds exhibitions of contemporary Czech and foreign artists. In the choice of artists the Gallery looks not at current trends but at quality, skill and artistic probity. It owes nothing to fleeting up-to-date judgements of the time.
Said about the Gallery:„The inconspicuous Felix Figura Gallery , is found near Kampa at Mala Strana and represents a still life and oasis in its own right. It is definitely worth a visit. The gallery exhibits and sells contemporary art, which is presented in an intimate ‘apartment’ environment with an atmosphere characteristic of Mala Strana.”
