F.Provazník statement:
I make a distinction between "photos of the world" and "the world of the picture" in my personal work. If the former often reflects passive illusion about our identity in the outside world, the content of the latter should attempt to go deeper in the search of one own soul. The tradition of Czech photography presented a strong influence on me, especially Jan Svoboda and Josef Sudek, both of whom became acquaintances. On emigrating from Czechoslovakia, my photographic work became free from any official establishment, more personal and had a new balance and belief. The photographs show very personal objects and the still lives hope to convey a meditative and thoughtful state, which will linger in the minds of those who see the work. This more spiritual content reflects again the influence of Czech culture -wishing, hoping to find another world than the political or materialist one.
